The Internet is a vast network that offers many great opportunities and serves as a source of endless information. At the same time, however, it also contains dangers that we need to be aware of and discuss. The rapid development of this field and the emergence of artificial intelligence bring challenges for all of us, with a particularly significant impact on children and young people.

That is why we were especially pleased to take part in an event last week. On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, the District Children’s Conference titled “Us and the Internet – Listen to Us” was held in Revúca. The conference guided us adults through important topics related to the various ways the Internet is used from the perspective of children, who interact with it on a daily basis. Pupils from lower secondary schools, as well as high school students, highlighted both its safe and potentially harmful aspects. They drew our attention to situations where caution is needed and to the negative consequences that can result from expressing or supporting violence through social media and messaging applications.

The entire conference took place in a very respectful and pleasant atmosphere, allowing us to gain many interesting insights and valuable observations from the presentations. We would like to express our gratitude to all the organizers, as well as to the children who demonstrated great courage and creativity in preparing skits, presentations, posters, and videos.
