At the beginning of December, as part of the SMP project and 16 days of activism, we took part in an interesting workshop „About consent“ in Zvolen’s cafe Džezva, focused on weaving a support network for victims of sexual violence, together with colleagues from Humans in Danger – Banská Bystrica region and IOM Slovakia. The workshop of knitting for human rights was accompanied by the wonderful Maryna Osipova and a group of knitters Stitches Bitches from Banská Štiavnica, who are, for example, behind the Yashila project. Their community knitting was also a great inspiration for us. The acoustic duo Sona Kmet and Tomáš Gulán provided a pleasant musical atmosphere.
In addition to knitting a support network, we had the opportunity to answer various questions about helping women – victims of sexual violence, and together we could look for other practical ways to help victims. We are grateful that the topic – even if it is difficult – can be usefully moved forward in this way.
